GiGi: Hi!! This week was pretty subtle with a few tweaks in it. On Monday, there was music. I was SOOO embarrassed (did i spell that right?). When Ms. Sim (music teacher) told us we were out of tune, she made people actually SING the song. i was watching other people singing, but all of a sudden, ms.Sim pointed to me. I was like, 'Huh?' I totally blanked out. She told me to sing the song, so i sang it in a quiet voice, my face beet red with humiliation. Then she told the class, "you see? she can sing it good, and that's why she always plays in tune!" It was WEIRD!
On Tuesday, we played Ogre Tag (AGAIN!) My team didn't have the fastest people ever, pretty decent. It was annoying! The really fast people were on one team, and all the decent people were spread out! you know, it was basically impossible to cross to the other side when mail and joytin, and mar were all ogres. I hit my shoulder on a basketball pole! i also had another student council meeting, which was ok. we had to count the bags, which took a while. 1...2...3...4...5... you get the point. =)
And then one day, 2 4th graders came into our classroom with the computer cart in the middle of while ms. derimin was teaching a lesson. "where should we put this?" the 4th graders asked. "uh," mrs. derimin said. "is this ms. rum's class?" "no" ms. derimin said. "really??" the 4th graders asked, looking appalled. " i'm pretty sure i'm not ms. rum," ms.derimin said. "oh" the 4th graders said looking shocked. then they hurried out of the room and the ms. derimin rolled her eyes and smiled. write again later!

Nixon Journal- Friday, October 24th, 2008
YO!! Its us!! SALLY AND ALLIE!! We're here to talk about our Friday at NIXON SCHOOL!!
Allie: Hey!! At P.E. today, we played a game that was Capture the Flagish. The captains Mia and Chestnut were playing. So at the beginning, Chestnut's team was totally BUSTING us. Later on, Mia's team just started getting some real plans and getting higher and higher points. Once, when Chestnut was clutching a ball trying to get back to his side. He almost got away. I was about to get him when suddenly he whooshed past me. Lucky me that Eurica and Sally were there and the totally got him. Then a whistle pierced through the air. The game was over. Who won?? MIA'S TEAM!! YES!! Later on, we were getting ready to explore the game cabinet. You could see Davi shaking his leg, wanting to get there first. We were last because you could see the tension in Davi.
Sally: I have great news for you. Geen-Geen, our friend, is joining our staff! She will post something simple and brief today and tell you all about next Monday in her class. First of all, our lizard, was named Stubby! Stubby is a weird name. I voted for Bernie, but the class voted on Stubby. it sounds like he's plump. When we finished our Greeting Meeting, we went to see Stubby. We watched him attack a cricket. Slowly, he crawled silently towards the cricket who was resting on a rock by the pond, one step, two steps, he licked his lips and jumped toward the cricket, we stayed there just in time to see him paw at the cricket and gulp it down. At the last minute of the day, we scrambled through the Game Cabinet in search of a board game to play. Eurica, Allie, and I got Math Bingo. We played and played, but Allie won the first game and Eurica the second. Riingg!!!! The bell rang. Our day ended with Allie cheerful that she won the first game, and Eurica glowing as bright as Haley's Comet because she beat me in the second game.

Geen-Geen: Hi! I'm Geen-Geen. I like ice cream and pie!! I also like sports like soccer, kickball, basketball. Allie, Sally, Eurica, and I are best friends, and hope to stay that way FOREVER! Allie, Sally, and I are all playing violin. I think we're getting pretty advanced! Eurica plays the clarinet. Ha! We could start a quartet! I'm in A3, and I hope that you'll like my posts! (I'll post different stuff than Allie and Sally b/c I'm in a different class. Just to let you know... our class can be very COOL sometimes, and sometimes very boring. And FUNNY!!) =)

Nixon Journal-Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
Hey, how's it going? It's US again! Ya' know, Sally and Allie? Well, it's us again. Anyway, today we're posting something you will faint for if you do not know about it, we had a... SUBSITUTE! Or Sub, as Sally would put it. So, let's get started.
Sally: Today, was music day, AGAIN! You people all know I hate to waste my time on music, right? Just kiddin' people. Anyway, our teacher is like extra extra strict. Since Allie and I both were new to orchestra this year, we didn't expect anything. But we had our friend Geen-Geen to depend on. Geen-Geen told us that Mrs. Simpson was extra strict, but not mean. But still, we had our worries. Especially me. I couldn't find my music book at home, and my mom scurried me away, telling me it was at school. Guess what? It was in my desk, sitting there nicely when I had freaked out at home trying to find it. I burst out laughing. Thank God there was a sub sitting at the desk, or else I would've gotten in trouble because, "Morning time is supposed to be timid and quiet!" Mr. McD. would say. Anyway, I played my best on the violin, all the time paying attention to Geen-Geen. She was on the same song I was playing at my private lessons. I was wondering maybe we could do a duet, she playing the First Violin and me playing the Second Violin or something. 5...4...3...2...1... Rrrrrring! It was time to go back to our classrooms. I said bye to Geen-Geen as she and her classmate Grayson went back to Mrs. Derimin's class. After school, I begged my mom to tell me what Mr. McD. had said about me during their parent-teacher conferences. She said that everything he said about me was good, except that I should work on my mental math. I stiffened. Mental math was practically the only thing I was good at in math! (Other than algebra, which is an exception.) Anyway, it was, I guess, a lucky day for me, finding my book in class and having good talk about me in the conference. Now, back to Allie.
Allie:Hey everyone!! Anyways, we walked into the classroom on Wednesday and I saw on the board written in careful script MS. SEGERHAMMAR. I was like whoa. Who could have a last name like that?? Well anyways, she was really nice. After two hours of school, we finally raced out to recess. In the kickball game that me and Sally played I had one of my best kicks ever. But GUESS WHAT?? My best kick flew into the air.....right into Alissa's arms. I was SO disappointed. But I got over it.
See ya everyone!!

Nixon Journal-Tuesday, October 21st, 2008
Yo, people! It's Sally and Allie again! We're gonna talk about Tremendous Tuesday! So get ready, 'cause we're gonna fire comments at you!
Sally: During P.E., Miss Les told us that the people who already ran the mile or finished the pacers for our sort-of fitness test, could play kickball. One team captain, Ana, divided the teams. Allie and I ended up on the same team. We ran off onto the field. When it was Allie's turn to kick, she went ahead and kicked a low ball, which tricked the outfielders, but she still got out. Oh, well, too bad. I was up next. I crouched low, my heartbeat thumping crazily at my chest. If I made a bad kick, no one would pick me for their team next time. The ball was thrown slowly onto the plate, one, two, three! I kicked a high one, letting it pounce into the air, and drop down...into the arms of Chestnut, which we called him. I was out! During lunch recess, we had soccer. I was thrown into the game when it started. We were against my friend Moly's team again. I slid the ball across to Mia, the best soccer player in the whole school, who was also my team captain, and she sent it shooting into the goal with Albet, the goalie, flying straight out of the goal! But unfortunately for us, Moly's team also made a goal while Chestnut the goalie was busy defending himself. Oh well, at least we didn't lose. During Social Studies, the last period in our day, we were doing this stupid treasure hunt thing. We were supposed to look whatever Mr. McD. asks us to look up in our social studies textbook. At first, my table group was on the roll, but then, Mia's team caught up, went ahead, but just then, WHA-LAM! Allie's group finds the Constitution of America, and Mr. McD. gives them a free 30 points just for finding it first and reading the preamble! From then on, Allie's team kept going ahead. We were too far behind to even tie with them. So our day ended with me fuming at Allie, and Allie jumping around with joy.
Allie:So..head back to the morning. Walking in we saw our new class pet!! I jumped around wanting to see it, but I was behind a GIGANTIC crowd. So I finally got to the cage. It was WAY SMALLER than I expected it to be. To the Greeting Meeting, Mr. McD. took him out and placing it on his hand. He showed us the bearded dragon. IT WAS AWESOME!! Later, TEAM 5 was on the roll. We were so pumped up to beat this TEAM 2!!! We all thought we were winning. For the first five minutes they SCORED A GOAL ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we were like OH NO!!!!!!! But later Ken just kept scoring and scoring so we ended up like this: 3-0. We totally lost and I was sad but READY for the next game.
See ya next time!!!!

Nixon Journal-Monday, October 20,2008
Hey everyone!!! It's us again!! Sally and Allie!! We're here posting about our day musicalish and pettish...well anyways...lets get STARTED!!
Allie:This morning, walking in the classroom, on the board it said SELF ASSESSMENTS. And I was like whats that all about. Later, Mr. McD. showed it to us and I was like HEY I know that!! So I got started right away. It was a breeze. During recess, Geen-Geen and I played kickball. The game was SO CHEAP!! Everytime that there was someone that didn't kick that well, Law and some other people would just throw it out farther. But music cheered my spirits up. It was cool. When we played this song on page 34, I don't like the B PART!! The A PART is great!! But the B PART we go on lower strings and stuff so I kinda don't like that. But anyways it was great for the most part. INDEPENDENT READERS' WORKSHOP said the next thing on the board. I LOVE reading. I finished proofreading my letter so I continued reading my book. I really wanted to finish the book and I was so close when poof!! Mr. McD. told us to clean up so...we read "Gilly". Then, when I played kickball again, the game was better.
Sally: Adding to this morning, during Greeting Meeting, Mr. McD. told us that he saw a bearded dragon in a pet store. When I first heard it, I was like, a real, live dragon? TOTALLY AWESOME, DUDE! But right then and there, Mr. McD. told us it was just a lizard. During recess, Moly and I played shooting hoops. At first, I made all of the shots. After a few 10 minutes, she was making every shot she could get! I tried desperately to shoot, but all my hard effort was wasted when the bell rang. The bell rang unusually hard so that my aim went off and it bounced off the rim. At the end of school day, Mr. McD. made us vote to see if we wanted that bearded dragon or not. We put our heads down, raised our hands, and he counted. After he told us it was okay to raise our heads again, he said in a sad voice, "I'm sorry, only 19 voted to get the dragon." At first, I was like, awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, but then, he burst out laughing just as I got the point. There were 23 students in our class, and 19 out of 23 is the major. I couldn't believe he actually managed to pull that trick on me!!!
So that was our sort of unusually unnormal day, thanks for listening!

Nixon Journal-Friday, October 17th, 2008
Hi, this is Allie and Sally. Something dangerous and not normal happened to us today.
Sally: This morning, when we walked into the classroom, I found DISASTER DRILL written on the board. Since I was new to Nixon this year, I didn't know what it was. Unfortunately, Allie knew what was going on. We were finishing up our Wordly Wise test when suddenly, a loud blaring noise caught us by surprise. Allie was practically leaping out of her seat. I looked around. Was THIS the disaster drill? No! Mr. McD. hurried us out the door. What was happening? "Hey, Jo, what's going on?" I asked the girl next to me. "It looks like a fire alarm." she replied sheepishly. "Mr. McD., what's going on?" "Honey, this is a fire drill. But I really didn't know about this!" he ran his hand through his hair nervously. "I don't think this is a fire drill, Jo, otherwise we would've known it, or at least the teachers would've known it." I whispered to Jo. Just then, we saw a bright, flashing, red light, what was it? The... FIRE DEPARTMENT! Along came the ambulance, and even the police car was trailing after. Later, Allie found out that a spider had triggered the fire alarm.
Allie: We wasted some of our P.E. time. But I wasn't that glad when it came. Sally and I had to run the MILE!! I wanted to beat my record from last year and Sally wanted to be first. My time was 11:50 last year. We started running. I was behind. After a quarter of a mile, Sally was way ahead of me. Just then, my shoelace untied. I stopped to tie it. After starting to run again, my shoelace untied AGAIN!!! I didn't stop this time. I ran the rest of the mile with my shoelace untied. I ran into the finish, with Sally's time being 9:01 and mine being 10:09. Our wishes came true. I beat my record by about a minute and a half and Sally making it first. Going to the library, my legs feeling wobbly, in five minutes we ducked under the tables for the disaster drill. We headed out of the library onto the blacktop meeting Mr.McD. there. Then we walked calmly to the field, getting our tags. Then, for a LONG time we chatted, read books and other things. By the time we went back to the classroom, there was no time for the spelling test. After lunch, we did the spelling test, and the math test. Both were easy. Hours later, Sally and I went to do flag and training other people. Finally, finishing, we went back to pack up.
So, that was our bizarre day. Hope you liked reading about it!!!
